Ready to take your child’s water skills to the next level? Our Junior Lifesaving Club runs for 13 consecutive Saturdays, offering two-hour sessions packed with hands-on training and real-world knowledge.

This course teaches key lifesaving techniques, enhances ocean awareness, and fosters teamwork—equipping every participant with the tools to stay safe and help others when it matters most.

Course Schedule

To ensure everyone gets the most out of these sessions, each child must be able to swim at least 50m. As their confidence grows, they’ll discover the satisfaction of learning new skills, pushing their boundaries, and growing into a young guardian of the sea. It’s more than a course—it’s a journey toward responsibility, resilience, and true surf-side leadership.

  • Duration & Schedule: Two-hour sessions, every Saturday, over a 13-week course.
  • Who’s It For: Suitable for confident swimmers aged 8–16 who can swim at least 50m.
  • What They’ll Learn: Essential lifesaving techniques, ocean safety, team-building exercises, and the confidence to act in challenging situations.
  • Equipment Provided: We supply the gear; just bring a swimsuit, towel, and a can-do attitude!

Requirements:

  • Participants must be between 8 and 16 years old.
  • Participants must be able to swim a minimum of 50m.

Certification:

Participants will receive a GSS Junior Lifeguard Certificate upon completion of the course.

Introduction to Water Safety:

  • Learn the basics of water safety, including the importance of lifeguards and their role in ensuring a safe beach environment.
  • Explore different water/beach environments and potential hazards.

Basic Lifeguarding Techniques:

  • Discover fundamental lifeguarding techniques such as scanning, recognising distress signals, and assessing water conditions.
  • Practice effective communication skills for responding to emergencies.

Rescue Skills:

  • Hands-on experience in basic water rescues using rescue boards/tubes and other essential equipment.
  • Introduction to teamwork and collaboration during rescue scenarios.

First Aid Basics:

  • Gain an understanding of basic first aid techniques relevant to aquatic emergencies.
  • Learn how to respond to common injuries and emergencies around the water.

CPR Training:

  • Introduction to cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) techniques.
  • Hands-on practice with CPR dummies to build confidence and competence.

Water Games and Fitness:

  • Combine fitness with fun through water-based games that enhance swimming abilities and endurance.
  • Develop physical fitness while enjoying the summer sun and water activities.
